ARDC’s response to the UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science (Event)

Activity: Academic Engagements & Memberships › Submissions to industry or govt committees, commissions and inquiries

Description

Handled the ARDC’s response to the UNESCO Open Science Recommendation consultation on two tracks: preparing and lodging the Director’s response through the Australian Academy of Science’s National Committee for Data in Science, and contributing to the ARDC’s own independent submission lodged at the end of April. The submitted text argues that openness is a matter of degree rather than a binary, that data infrastructure includes governance, policy, processes, support and training and not only networks and storage, that FAIR and open should not be conflated because data can be FAIR and shared under restriction, and that incentive and reporting frameworks need to recognise the full range of research outputs.
