Co-authored and lodged the ARDC submission on artifiicial intelligence to the Australian Human Rights Commission, Human Rights and Technology consultation (Event)

Activity: Academic Engagements & Memberships › Submissions to industry or govt committees, commissions and inquiries

Description

Co-authored and lodged the ARDC submission to the Australian Human Rights Commission’s consultation on AI governance and leadership, part of the Commission’s Human Rights and Technology project. The submission argues that because data is the fuel of AI, regulation of access to and use of data is inseparable from regulation of AI systems; it works through public sector data under the 2015 Australian Government Public Data Policy Statement, the Productivity Commission’s Inquiry into Data Availability and Use, the appointment of the National Data Commissioner and the proposed Data Sharing and Release legislation, and the differing access conditions across private, public and research sectors. Six pages, with footnoted sources.
