Description
The Cybernetic Studio---a research-through-practice initiative of the ANU School of Cybernetics---launched at SXSW Sydney in October 2025. The launch event featured several interactive installations embodying the Studio's "Human Scale AI" philosophy, including the Perceptron Apparatus (a 1.2-metre diameter physical neural network sculpture), PANIC!, and the Language Model Books. Alongside the launch, a "LLMs Unplugged" workshop invited participants to build language models using pen, paper, and dice, drawing on the LLMs Unplugged teaching resources. The event brought together researchers, industry partners, and the public to explore AI and complex systems through artefacts designed to be perceptible, interpretable, and hands-on.
