Description
“Predictive Network Analytics for National Research Investment”. Invited industry keynote at AusDM 2013, the Eleventh Australasian Data Mining Conference, 13–15 November 2013 in Canberra, co-hosted for the first time with the 5th Asian Conference on Machine Learning (ACML 2013). AusDM is the principal Australasian venue for applied data mining and deliberately pairs a peer-reviewed research track with an industry track; the keynote is an invited slot addressing the whole conference on practice rather than a refereed paper. The proceedings preface describes the talk as covering “how network analytics is used both by academia and governments to inform and direct research strategies and investments”, and identifies the author as Dr Paul Wong of the Australian National University’s Office of Research Excellence, one of two local keynote speakers (the other being Klaus Felsche, Department of Immigration and Border Protection). The conference received 54 submissions across the research and industry tracks, of which 20 were presented (13 research, 7 industry); the program also included an R and Rattle tutorial by Dr Graham Williams (ATO), with Yanchang Zhao as Industry Track Program Chair. Proceedings published as CRPIT Vol. 146, “Data Mining and Analytics 2013” (Australian Computer Society). v3 records the role as Invited Industry Keynote Speaker and the conference site as http://ausdm13.ausdm.org/.
