Description
Please join Eryk Salvaggio (Cybernetician, Design Researcher, New Media Artist, MACYB Alumn) for a discussion/research sharing session with PhD Students on Creative Research Practices.
This session is a follow on to Eryk’s Cybernetic Encounters presentation to the School of Cybernetics on Feb 20th. It will be helpful if you attend that session in prep for this one.
While Eryk will have some prepared remarks, this is a deeper dive/discussion of creative research that he will address in the Encounters. Eryk writes: “Roughly though, I will “frame” creative research (what it is vs science communication, why it’s helpful). In my elisava course I emphasize translation as a rejoinder to the linguistic emphasis of intelligence in AI, discussing other ways of knowing / perceiving and thinking about “translating” research work into some other perceptual category. How do our relationships to our questions, data, and conclusions shift when we try to move them into other ways of knowing? How does it help us integrate different scales and perspectives into design and engineering?”
