Description

“After AI” Symposium

“Lessons from Wittgenstein and the Unbearable Lightness of Artificial Intelligence”. May 2024. Paul submitted an abstract for the 10–15 minute presentation format and delivered the talk; the paper is dated 14 May 2024 and the recording was made on 17 May 2024. The argument applies Wittgenstein’s family-resemblance account of concepts to “AI”, contending that AI is better read as a cluster of evolving overlapping features than as a definable kind, and that this re-framing displaces the “after AI” premise in favour of an evolving AI future. The work continued past the symposium: a book chapter abstract was drafted in December 2024 and the paper was still being revised in April 2025. Organisation: The Open University (United Kingdom).
