A belated yet very much welcoming acceptance outcome of my PhD work in collaboration with researchers at the UTS TechLab. Adopting a hyperuniform geometry (disordered at a local scale, yet ordered at a global scale) generated by Lloyd's algorithm as an arrangement of cells,
we have explored its vibrational properties where we find energy localisation around topological defects (non-hexagonal cells in a two-dimensional cellular geometry). The energy localisation around dynamically arrested topological defects along the Lloyd iterations results in opening up band-gaps in dispersion diagrams, suggesting the robust dynamic mechanism influences a broad spectrum of disordered systems, from synthetic materials to biological structures guided by stigmergic interactions.
