Biography
Alex has an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and a PhD in Programming Languages. During his studies, he took short breaks to work as a Visiting Researcher at Purdue University, USA and a Software Engineer at two Wellington, NZ start-ups. In 2006, Alex took up a job as a Lecturer in Software Engineering at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. He spent 2013 on a sabbatical at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. He spent the winter of 2019/2020 on a sabbatical at Kyoto University in Japan.
