Personal profile

Biography

I am a clinical and cognitive psychologist. My core area of research is emotions, focusing on facial expressions and emotional regulation. My lab uses cognitive, behavioural and physiological methods to understand how people interpret and respond to their own and other people's emotions. For example, one current line of investigation concerns emotional display rules—the beliefs people have about how they should express emotions—and how these relate to emotional health. My lab is also interested in understanding how people relate to computer-generated beings (e.g., virtual humans or avatars).
