Biography
Anthea Roberts, a Professor at the School of Regulation and Global Governance (RegNet), is an interdisciplinary researcher and legal scholar who focuses on new ways of thinking about complex and evolving global fields. She is the Director of the ANU Centre for International Governance and Justice and Chair of the Geoeconomics Working Group. Anthea is a repeat Visiting Professor at Harvard Law School and formerly taught at the London School of Economics, Columbia Law School and Harvard Law School. She is currently working on a variety of issues relating to governing in complexity, including policy-making at the intersection of economics, security, social issues and the environment.
The League of Scholars has named Anthea the world's leading international law scholar (2019), Australia's leading international law scholar (2019, 2022, 2023) and Australia's leading law scholar (2019). Her books Is International Law International? (Oxford University Press, 2017) and Six Faces of Globalization (Harvard University Press, 2021, co-authored with Nicolas Lamp) have won multiple international awards, including being listed on the Best Books of the Year by the Financial Times and Fortune Magazine and winning the American Society of International Law's book prize for pre-eminent contribution to scholarship. Anthea has twice been awarded the Francis Deák Prize for the best article published in the American Journal of International Law by a young scholar and received an ANU Futures Award and a UK Philip Leverhulme Prize.
Anthea is Founder and Director of Dragonfly Thinking which is a start-up company employing structured analytic techniques and AI tools to enable policy makers and businesses to view complex problems through multiple lenses and to develop integrative decision-making approaches, such as through applying her Risk, Reward and Resilience Framework. She has presented these tools and/or techniques to a variety of businesses, chief investment officers and government departments, including PM&C, DFAT, Defense, DISR, Treasury, Finance and ONI, as well as the European Commission and the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office.

BA/LLB from ANU (National Undergraduate Scholarship, 1st Class Honours and University Medal), LLM from NYU (Fulbright Scholar, Hauser Scholar and Jerome Lipper Award), PhD from ANU (JG Crawford Award)
