Biography
Dr Anurug Chakma currently holds the position of Research Fellow at the Migration Hub within the School of Regulation and Global Governance (RegNet) at the Australian National University (ANU). Before this role, he served as a casual sessional academic at ANU School of Politics and International Relations (SPIR). Additionally, he contributed to academia by teaching undergraduate and graduate courses at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, in the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies, where he held positions as a Lecturer for four years and an Assistant Professor for one year.
Dr Chakma has been actively engaged in research and consultancy roles, including positions at the Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST), UNDP-CHTDF, University College London (UCL), and the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) in the past thirteen years.
Dr Chakma recently disseminated his research findings across various esteemed journals, including International Peacekeeping, Conflict, Security & Development, Journal of Asian and African Studies, International Social Science Journal, Journal of Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism, and Asian Journal of Peacebuilding. Additionally, he has shared his expert opinions and commentaries in E-International Relations, Australian Outlook, the Diplomat, South Asia Journal, International Policy Digest, and ANU Policy Forum. His research pursuits span a wide array of topics, including terrorism, civil conflict, peace agreements, human rights, diaspora communities, and computational social science.
