Personal profile
Biography
Dr. Elle Bowd is a ecologist and research fellow at the Fenner School of Environment & Society, Australian National University. She works across research projects in Australian eucalypt forests and woodlands in NSW and Victoria focusing on plant and fungal ecology, and has a long-standing interest in above and below-ground interactions (e.g. plant-soil-microbial).
Dr. Bowd’s research focuses on understanding how ecosystems respond to wildfire and logging in forests, and the pathways that generate ecological change. She also works on cross-cultural projects that partner with First Nations Peoples to support the re-emergence of Indigenous-led cultural burning. This work aims to generate an interface between First Nations knowledge and management, and western science.
