Biography

Dr Fiona Scotney MAICD FATEM is a teacher and education professional, the Director of the Tuckwell Scholarship Program at The Australian National University (ANU), and a Non-Executive Director, Fellow, and NSW/ACT Regional Chair for the Association for Tertiary Education Management (ATEM).

Fiona has 20 years' experience in the public and tertiary sectors, with a specific interest in education and student success, Boards and governance, and scholarship programs. A former secondary teacher and university tutor, she is passionate about access to education for underrepresented student cohorts, and mentoring students and professional women. She is focused on improving student experience through programs that build a sense of belonging and community.

Fiona holds a Bachelor of Arts, Graduate Diploma in Learning and Teaching (Secondary), Master of Arts, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), and a Graduate Certificate in Business. In 2020, she completed the Harvard Business School online Leadership Principles course, in 2023 the the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) Foundation course, and she is currently completing the AICD Company Directors course.

Fiona has published reviews and interviews in Southerly, Cordite Poetry Review, Mascara Literary Magazine, Australian Poetry Journal and M/C Reviews. She has a chapter, "The Long 1970s: New Poetry in Australia", in the forthcoming Cambridge History of Australian Poetry (eds. Philip Mead and Anne Vickery).
