Biography
Dr Francesc March is an eye surgeon based in Canberra, a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO). He specialises in surgery of the retina, glaucoma, and complex cataract, with experience in managing challenging cases. He is an Associate Professor at the Australian National University (ANU), the University of Otago (New Zealand) and the University of Girona (Catalunya, Spain).
Dr March holds a Doctor of Medicine with specialisation in ophthalmology, Master’s degree and PhD. His subspecialty training includes over three years of dedicated fellowship training in retinal diseases, complemented by further fellowships in glaucoma and cataract surgery. His work focuses on delivering high-quality surgical outcomes while addressing individual needs. He has undertaken practice across Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and North America.
Alongside his clinical practice, Dr March leads research focused on improving the delivery of ophthalmic care, has authored multiple publications, contributes as an investigator in clinical studies, and participates in international congresses. His work spans interdisciplinary and technological innovation, advancing health care.
Dr March is committed to the training of doctors in ophthalmology and surgery. He is actively involved in medical education and teaching that emphasises hands-on clinical skills and problem-solving. He is actively involved in collaborating with optometrists and other specialists.
