Research Interests

As an ecophysiologist, I explore how plant physiology confers function and survival in varying environments. My research focuses on the pathways for water uptake, water relations, hydraulic vulnerability, and the interactions between these processes in plants living along environmental gradients, and how plants response to extreme environmental conditions. This enables us to make more accurate predictions of plant survival as our climate changes, and hence better target our conservation efforts. I approach plants and plant communities as integrated systems, with responses to climate change shaped by their evolutionary history, life history, and acclimation capacity and strategies.
