Biography

Dr Jananie William is a Senior Lecturer in Actuarial Studies, Research Affiliate with the Global Institute of Women's Leadership (ANU) and Advisor to The Social Outcomes Lab. Jananie's primary areas of research are in public health and public policy, with a focus on actuarial applications to issues that adversely affect women. Her research centres on the health and economic security of women across their lifetime. She works with cross-discipline teams to address these complex issues which include domestic and family violence, maternal health and the gender pay gap. Jananie’s work has been published in leading scholarly journals including Annals of Actuarial Science and Economic Modelling.

Her teaching excellence was recognised through the CBE Award for Teaching Excellence (Early Career) and the Vice Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence (Early Career). Prior to joining the university, Jananie worked in actuarial roles in the general insurance and investment advisory industry in Australia and the UK.

Research Interests

Public health (specialises in women's health), public policy and human services. Current projects focus on the gender pay gap, health system costs of women who experience domestic violence and income contingent loans for women who experience domestic violence.
