Biography
Jarrett Blaustein is an Associate Professor and the Director of Education in the School of Regulation and Global Governance (RegNet) in the College of Asia and the Pacific at ANU. His research examines how and why societies govern and deliver security during, or in anticipation of, complex crises. His pioneering work considers how different policing actors, traditions and networks are adapting to risks and hazards linked with climate change. Since 2023, he has served as an Associate Editor for Policing & Society.
Jarrett has also published extensively on the topic of global crime governance and his most recent book, Unraveling the Crime Development Nexus (with Tom Chodor and Nathan Pino; Rowman & Littlefield, 2022), was featured on the prestigious International Affairs 2023 Summer Reading List. His co-authored monograph, Place, Race and Politics: The Anatomy of a Law and Order Crisis (Emerald, 2021) was also recently awarded the prestigious Christine M. Alder Book Award by the Australian and New Zealand Society of Criminology in 2023.
In addition to his research and educational leadership role at RegNet, Jarrett serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Criminology and the Internationational Journal of Crime, Justice and Social Democracy, and is a Research Affiliate at the ESRC Vulnerability & Policing Research Centre in the UK.
Prior to joining ANU in 2022, Jarrett held tenure-track positions at Aberystwyth University (2013-2015) and Monash University (2015-2022).
