Biography

Dr Bou is an honorary senior lecturer in the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre at ANU. Previously, as a member of the SDSC's staff, staff, his teaching duties included lecturing at the Australian Command and Staff College and in the under- and post-graduate programs at ANU. He has also taught at the University of New South Wales at the Australian Defence Force Academy.

A historian he is a graduate of the University of Queensland and holds a PhD in History from the University of New South Wales (at the Australian Defence Force Academy).

In originally joined the SDSC as a researcher for the Official History of Australian Peacekeeping, Humanitarian and Post-Cold War Operations in 2006, and he has remained involved with that project, becoming a co-author of the fourth volume of that history. Dr Bou has also been a historian in the Military History Section of the Australian War Memorial. He is the author or co-editor of numerous books and articles on aspects of Australian military history.

Dr Bou's interest is the history of war, with a particular focus on Australian military history from before federation to today. His interests include, but are not limited to:
