Biography
Jemima is a PhD candidate in the ANU Centre for Classical Studies, supervised by Dr Tatiana Bur. Prior to this, she completed a Master of Arts (Classical Studies) at the University of New England and a Bachelor of Science (Earth Sciences) at the ANU.
Jemima studies scientific writing, methods, and beliefs in the ancient Roman world. She is particularly interested in how Romans acquired and transmitted knowledge about natural phenomena, and how the study of science intersected with Roman political and cultural worlds.
Jemima has presented at the annual conference of the Australasian Society for Classical Studies (ASCS), and has twice received the runner-up prize in OPTIMA, the ASCS competition for best postgraduate presentation. She is also a member of Fulcrum, the Australasian network for pre-modern science and technology.
