Biography

Jessica Arnup is a Research Fellow in POLIS (the Centre for Social Policy Research). She is currently working on the GENERATION survey, a longitudinal survey of adolescents' educational pathways. She is also researching the impact of natural disasters on children and families. 

Prior to joining ANU, Jessica completed her PhD (currently under examination) at Monash University, within the Centre for Health Economics. Her PhD examined the determinants and consequences of human capital development, with a focus on children’s time-use, educational aspirations, and childhood mental health conditions. 

Jessica is interested in applied microeconomics, health economics, and education economics. She has expertise in analysing longitudinal data sets including LSAC, PLIDA, HILDA and PISA. She has published in economics, psychology and educational journals. Jessica has also worked in schools as both a teacher and a school psychologist.
