Dr. Joanna Mills is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the ANU School of Medicine and Psychology and a Medical Administration Registrar at Canberra Health Services. She holds a PhD, MBBS, and MPhil from the University of Sydney, along with a BA with Honours in Psychology from Georgetown University, USA.
Throughout her clinical and academic career, Joanna has successfully secured prestigious grants, including the Australian Awards Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarship. These grants have supported collaborations with renowned institutions such as the Max Planck Institute in Germany, the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, and the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre in Australia.
Her research interests centre on enhancing patient care through rigorous evaluation and health systems research. Joanna examines clinical practice variations and their impact on healthcare costs and patient-reported outcomes. Through an interdisciplinary approach, she aims to address treatment disparities and improve clinical practices through evidence-informed strategies.
Joanna is dedicated to fostering a supportive learning environment for undergraduate and postgraduate students. She has previously served as academic staff at the University of Sydney, teaching quantitative research methods in the Honours program for the School of Health Sciences. She actively supervises medical students and mentors clinicians, providing guidance in research methods and cultivating positive research experiences that lead to successful publications.
