Qualifications

I hold a Ph.D. in French with a Specialization in Second Language Acquisition and Teacher Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA), an M.A. in French Linguistics and Teacher Education from the University of Arizona (USA) and a B.A. in Francophone Studies and a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of South Dakota (USA). I moved to Australia and joined the ANU in 2025

Biography

I specialize in applied linguistics and applied second language acquisition. I have published my research in top-tier journals such as Foreign Language AnnalsFrontiers and Second Language Research and Practice. I also currently serve as a reviewer for Frontiers: The Interdisciplinary Journal of Study Abroad.

Teaching

I am an educator at heart and teaching undergraduate students in one of my top professional priorities. Courses I have taught at the ANU include Introductory French Studies II (FREN 1102) and Continuing French II (FREN 2102). At previous institutions, I have taught beginning and intermediate French language and culture as well as upper-level undergraduate courses in French Writing and Composition, Advanced Oral Pronunciation and Conversation, Grammar, Usage and Composition, and Introductions to French Linguistics and Literature. I am also passionate about study abroad and have previously accompanied groups of students on faculty-led programs in Paris and across France.
