Biography

Julie Cunningham joined the School of Sociology at ANU in 2023, having completed her PhD in 2022 at the University of Wollongong researching ‘International labour migration and the children left behind: Hearing the voices of young people traversing transnational parenting in Tonga’.

Julie is currently working with Dr Matt Withers on his research project Together, Apart: Transnational Family Separation in the PALM Scheme to examine how households participating in the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme navigate personal relationships and care practices during periods of transnational family separation.
