Personal profile

Biography

My research is linked to an ACIAR-funded project ‘TCircular Food Systems in Afric (CFS) project working in Tanzania, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Read an overview of our work here:  We studied smallholder farming in three African countries for 10 years: why profitable irrigation is key

My role is to support inclusion-related research; firstly, coordinate inclusion analysis to support implementation; and secondly to understand more about vulnerable groups access to resources and livelihood opportunities. We are exploring which households are more or less able to adopt circular food system practices. We are also looking at access to local savings groups and how access can be improved, including for more vulnerable households. These savings groups are particularly important for small business growth where there is limited access to other forms of financial support. Our inclusion research also explores young people's access and interest to small business opportunities, including engaging in farming and value adding.

I am fortunate that my role requires me to make research trips to southern Africa on a regular basis.
