Dr Kawsihen Elankumaran

Kawsihen is a Research Fellow at the School of Engineering, The Australian National University (ANU), Canberra, Australia since 2023. His research interests are in the domain of space flight mechanics. His current research is focused on cis-lunar astrodynamics and trajectory design, as well as on other themes in space robotics. Kawsihen obtained his PhD from The University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia in 2022. His PhD research on autonomous spacecraft navigation was supported by the University International Postgraduate Award. He was also a recipient of the Emerging Space Leaders Award from the International Astronautical Federation in 2021. His research experience includes a research internship on Real-time systems at The University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand and a R&D engineering career on Electronic design automation at a U.S.-based company.

Kawsihen’s research interests are primarily in the domain of space flight mechanics, particularly in astrodynamics (orbital-mechanics), spacecraft navigation, mission design, guidance navigation and control (GNC), autonomous and distributed space systems, as well as on other themes in dynamical systems theory and space robotics.
