Research Interests

I am an applied social psychologist and take an interdisciplinary, mixed-methods approach to delineating the experience of social self-perception and its impact on behaviour and wellbeing. Fundamentally, I am intersted in social processes in the wild. I lead a program of mixed methods, applied, social psychological research anchored in data on real-world phenomena and real-world social experiences.
My research has two inter-related foci: social self-concept, and socially shaping the behaviour of participants in complex systems (including education and healthcare systems). My research develops our understanding of identity and belonging in social contexts, and also models of ways this understanding can be applied to shape behaviour and improve wellbeing.
I am available as a research supervisor for honours (psychology, health science), MChD Research Projects, MPhil and PhD projects. I am currently at capacity for PhD supervision and will not be taking on new students as primary supervisor until 2026.
