M. Lutfi Chakim is a PhD Candidate in Law at the Australian National University (ANU) School of Law. His primary research interests include constitutional law and human rights. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from UMM in Indonesia and a Master of Laws (LLM) from Seoul National University (SNU), South Korea. He has published scholarly work in academic books as well as in a range of peer-reviewed journals, edited volumes, and legal periodicals. His works are available on his Google Scholar and ResearchGate profiles.

Prior to commencing his doctoral studies at ANU, he served as a Researcher at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia, a position to which he will return upon the completion of his PhD. His professional experience also includes serving as a Commissioner’s Assistant at the Judicial Commission of Indonesia (2013–2014) and as a Researcher at the Constitutional and Electoral Reform Center (formerly known as CETRO) from 2012 to 2013.

During his master’s studies in Seoul, South Korea, he also worked at the Secretariat for Research and Development of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (AACC SRD), which operates under the organizational structure of the Constitutional Court of Korea, where he contributed to research and program development from 2018 to 2020.

Chakim’s research interests focus on constitutional law, judicial review, the role of courts, and human rights issues.
