Matthew is a highly regarded and experienced General Practitioner (GP) and Medical Educator, passionate about improving the lives of those in our community while making a continuous and significant contribution to the training, development, and support of doctors, particularly medical students, over many years. This followed an exemplary military career serving in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).
As a Clinical Skills Academic Coordinator, Matthew is responsible for the coordination and delivery of an extensive and complex program of teaching, learning, and assessment within the Clinical Skills theme, primarily for Year 1 students in the graduate-entry medical (MChD) program. This requires the integration of leadership, coordination, learning, research, innovation, and pastoral care, as well as the maintenance of a high level of clinical scholarship.
Matthew has published research and scholarly work across disciplines and has an increasing research leadership role within the ANU School of Medicine and Psychology. As an educator Matthew is a medical student GP clinical preceptor and mentor, Lecturer, Senior Clinical Skills and GP Tutor, and mentor to RACGP registrars.
