Research Interests

Refugee law - doctrinal, theoretical, and interdisciplinary approaches (eg refugee narrative identities

General focus: refugee & human rights law discourse and jurisprudence from constitutional, international, historical, interdisciplinary and critical legal perspectives.

Specific focus: doctrinal, critical, neocolonial and discursive perspectives on refugee and constitutional law, policy and politics; anti-nominianism, political theology and legal obligation in international law; judicial predispositions, political philosophies, and cultural approaches to rights (domestic and international); constitutionalisation of executive sovereignty; resettlement and refugee ‘pathways’; the legal imaginary of borders in international law; refugee recognition, narrative and identity formation; the evolution of ‘humanity’ and 'sentiment' in international law; occupation, annexation, apartheid and the Israel-Palestine conflict; cluster munitions, interoperability and ‘third parties’; constitutional ‘veneration’ in comparative perspective; constitutional patriotism.

Current research: activist academia and refugee law; radical Jewish activism and Gaza; rewriting migration jurisprudence (Kisch Me If You Can); strategic litigation and consitutionalising the rights of nature.
