Biography

Michael is a surgical oncologist with over 30 years’ experience. He has specialised in the management of melanoma and advanced nonmelanoma skin malignancy, breast disease, sarcoma and other soft tissue tumours. In 2010 he was appointed as an Associate Professor at the University of Sydney and was a founding academic with the Sydney Adventist Hospital Clinical School. In 2019 he was appointed Head of the Clinical School. He is now an Associate Professor at ANU and Head of the ANU Sydney Clinical School.

Michael was the clinical Director of the Division of Surgical Services at the Sydney Adventist Hospital 2019-2023. He is Chairman of the hospital’s Breast and Surgical Oncology multidisciplinary teams. Michael is the founder and director of Northern Surgical Oncology, a collegiate surgical practice on site at the San with six active surgeons.

Michael was the chair of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Section of Surgical Oncology and the RACS representative to Cancer Australia 2018-2024.
