Biography
PhD candidate in International Relations at the College of Asia and the Pacific, Australian National University (ANU). I received my MSc in Asian Studies from RSIS, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore, and my BA in Politics and Government from Sciences Po Paris, Campus du Havre. Prior to ANU, I worked as Research Assistant in the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at NTU in Singapore.
I've published in multiple outlets focusing on Asia-Pacific like The Diplomat, ISEAS-Fulcrum and Lowy's The Interpreter, as well as peer-reviewed journals, namely Review of International Studies, International Relations of the Asia-Pacific, and Millennium Journal of International Studies.
Research Interests
Ideas of size are commonplace, practical ideas used by both scholars and practitioners to make sense of world politics despite (or because of) their geographical simplicity and imprecision. My doctoral project traces such ideation of size as geopolitical heuristics in international relations across six mainland and maritime Southeast Asian 'geopolitical imaginations' from the Cold War onwards.
I am wedded to the intersection between international relations, Southeast Asian studies, and lately, political geography. Granular accounts of the historical and social forces in the making of the modern world are more compelling to me than conventional 'isms' of grand theorizing. I also find teaching to be quite fun.
Outside academics, I am partial to weight-lifghting, sight-seeing, and a variety of rhythms - R&B,, techno, Asian funk, eletronic music.
