Biography

Nicholas Brown is a professor in the School of History College of Arts and Social Sciences, Australian National University. Previously he was Keith Cameron Professor of Australian History at University College Dublin (2002-2004), worked in the Australian Department of Defence and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and as Research Fellow in the Urban and Environment Program, Research School of Social Sciences, ANU. He has been the Visiting Cabinet Historian with the National Archives of Australia, was a Senior Research Fellow with the Centre for Historical Research at the National Museum of Australia, served as a member of the ACT Heritage Council and continues to chair the Advisory Committee for the Canberra Museum and Gallery. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia. His research interests encompass a wide range of Australian history, with a focus on twentieth century social, environmental and bioigraphical history, biography, histories of governance and public policy, and twentieth century internationalism.
