Nick Hoare is a Pacific History Research Fellow at the Department of Pacific Affairs at the Australian National University (ANU).
Nick has broad research interests in the colonial and environmental histories of the Pacific region (both Francophone and Anglophone) as well as more specialised interests in the Pacific’s phosphate islands and Pacific biography. He teaches on Australia’s 19th- and 20th-century presence in Oceania and the Second World War in the Pacific Islands, and is happy to supervise honours and HDR students interested in any of the above fields or Pacific history more generally.
Prior to joining DPA, Nick worked closely with the Oceania Working Party of the Australian Dictionary of Biography, the Pacific Manuscripts Bureau, and the Journal of Pacific History.
