Dr Prabhavi Perera is a postdoctoral research fellow at ANU and holds an honorary research fellow position at the Monarch Mental Health Group. She is an early career researcher who has been involved in several research projects that explore novel and non-invasive treatments for mental health conditions.
She completed her PhD at Monash University where she conducted a pilot clinical trial to investigate the efficacy of transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). She also used electroencephalography (EEG) signals to assess measures of brain activity in OCD when compared to healthy controls. The promising outcomes of her research have paved the way for the development of a larger clinical trial, which she currently oversees.
Dr Perera's scholarly contributions have been published in top-tier peer-reviewed journals, and have been cited around 130 times. Her aspiration is to become a pioneering leader in innovating personalised, non-invasive therapies for challenging mental health conditions.
