After teaching Materials Science in the area of plastics for seven years, I then worked for the Venezuelan State Oil Company (PDVSA) promoting a new fuel for the power generation industry, and for a time was based in Tokyo, Japan. I have now repotted myself and have dedicated the last decade to becoming a historian, focusing on the environmental impact of historic practices in the refining of silver and gold, starting with New Spain/Mexico from the 16c to 19c, and now on Australia and Asia.
