Biography

Dr Shane Latham is a Research Fellow in the Department of Materials Physics, Research School of Physics. He received his PhD in Mathematics from ANU in 2000. Since the award of his PhD, Dr Latham has worked in industry as a software engineer and been employed at The University of Queensland performing computational earthquake modelling. In 2011 Dr Latham joined the Department of Materials Physics (previously Department of Applied Mathematics), where he has applied his computational software skills to solve problems in X-ray tomography, image processing and image registration.

Dr Latham's current research interests include:

  • Image processing
  • High performance computing
  • Data analysis

Since 2017, Dr Latham has been a member of the Smartlight industry project.
