Biography

Shasta Shakya is a Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor) of finance at the Australian National University. She has been serving on the faculty of ANU since June 2024. She has had prior faculty appointments at Arizona State University as a Clinical Assistant Professor of finance and at  Tulane University as a Visiting Assistant Professor of finance. She completed her PhD in finance from Pennsylvania State University in 2018.

Her primary areas of research are banking, corporate governance, and empirical corporate finance. Her recent work in banking studies interconnections between banks and identifies novel mechanisms of spillover effects of such interconnections in bank lending behavior. Her current work in corporate governance studies networks amongst board directors, their role in director learning, and their implications for the career of directors. Her work has been published in Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis and Journal of Corporate Finance.
