Biography

Shivangi is a PhD candidate in the Department of International Relations in the Coral Bell School of Asia and Pacific Affairs at The Australian National University (ANU). Her research explores justice and accountability in the aftermath of mass atrocities. 

Prior to commencing her PhD, Shivangi worked as a Research Officer at the ANU under the UKRI GCRF Gender, Justice and Security Hub, conducting research on gender and transformative justice, funding of transitional justice, and legacies of colonialism in transitional justice. Her research spanned across post-conflict justice in Colombia, Sierra Leone, Iraq, and the International Criminal Court. She is also a Research Assistant at the Griffith Asia Institute, Griffith University, where she studies the human rights and justice landscape in South Asia. She has also held policy-oriented research roles at think tanks in Australia and India.

Shivangi's work has appeared in multiple outlets including peer-reviewed journals such as Contemporary Politics and the International Journal of Transitional Justice, and periodicals such as The Diplomat, The Interpreter, The Strategist, and South Asian Voices.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing her PhD, Shivangi holds a Master's degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the Australian National University and a BA (Honours) in History and International Relations from Ashoka University.
