Personal profile

Biography

I am a field epidemiologist and Registered Nurse who has worked with national governments and the World Health Organization (at both country and Regional level) to develop health security and frontline field epidemiology capacity in Cambodia, Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea. I am particularly interested in the intersection of health security and social equity, and how we meaningfully engage communities in emergency preparedness and response.

In 2024 I joined the Master of Philosophy (Applied Epidemiology) [MAE] team, co-convening the Research Design and Methods course, teaching pandemic preparedness planning and supervising field epidemiology fellows. I take pride in being an empathetic, strengths-based supervisor, who enjoys working with students to conduct epidemiological research that centres equity and has real-life, measurable impact on people and communities.

Throughout 2025 and now into 2026, I developed and continue to lead the MAE's Inclusion Strategy. Based in principles of Universal Design for Learning, we aim for the MAE to be an inclusive learning experience for scholars of all lived experiences, identities and abilities. I hope that this work can contribute to a more richly diverse epidemiological workforce that is more representative of the Australian population we serve.

With recognition of and gratitude to Elders past and present, I live and work on Wonnarua Country; land which was never ceded.
