Biography

I am a PhD candidate in Linguistics at the School of Literature, Languages and Linguistics (SLLL) of the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) at the Australian National University (ANU). I completed Honours in Linguistics at ANU, after having studied undergraduate linguistics at the University of New England (UNE) while completing a BA and BPhil at the University of Tasmania (UTAS).

BA + BPhil (major in Japanese and major-equivalent in Linguistics at UNE) – University of Tasmania

Research Interests

I am interested in phonetics and sociolinguistics, mostly having focused on English in Australia. My current PhD project focuses on sociophonetics/accent in Tasmania, and how this interacts with identity and connection to place.
