Biography

Dr Xiaoxu Wu is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Mathematical Sciences Institute, the Australian National University, where she works within the Australian Laureate Fellowship of Professor Andrew Hassell. Her research lies at the interface of partial differential equations, mathematical physics, and quantum information, spanning scattering theory, wave turbulence and kinetic theory, quantum information, and quantum algorithms.

Her recent work includes establishing the existence of solutions to the gravity water wave kinetic (Hasselmann) equation — a central problem in wave-turbulence theory open for over six decades — and developing the first rigorous error analysis for quantum simulation of many-body Coulomb systems, recognised as an NSF Mathematical Institutes Research Highlight. 

She received her PhD from Rutgers University in 2023, and has held positions at the Fields Institute and Texas A&M University.
