Biography

Zaka Yuen is a Postdoc in Prof. Eduardo Eyras's lab at the Australian National University (ANU), working in collaboration with Dr. Nadine Hein. Zaka specializes in computational biology and long-read sequencing technologies.

During her PhD in the same lab, she benchmarked nanopore methylation tools and explored PCR-free nanopore targeting techniques, including Cas9 enrichment and adaptive sampling. Her PhD research involved the bioinformatic analysis of nanopore signal data, particularly in DNA methylation studies, where she developed bioinformatic pipelines.

In a follow-up project, Zaka identified DNA methylation markers specific to age and body fluid using nanopore sequencing for forensic science applications. Currently, her research focuses on investigating ribosomal DNA repeats in cancer progression using long-read sequencing.
