3D bioprinting tissues and cellular models for medical research

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

We are requesting funding to support the purchase of two 3D bioprinters (BioX/BioCellX). The BioX will facilitate the development and testing of novel biomaterials developed in-house (supporting growth of mammalian cells and tissues). The BioCellX complements the BioX by facilitating printing of miniaturised cell models in high throughput, enabling use in drug screening and biomarker discovery applications. Together, this equipment has the potential to facilitate groundbreaking discoveries in medicine, including tissue regeneration, modelling organs/tissues and diseases (e.g., cancer). This cutting-edge technology will also enable exciting new cross-disciplinary opportunities for medical research and biomedical engineering at ANU.
