    Description

    This research aims to advance the science of synthesis through the development of a new class of molecules called dendralenes. We will invent the definitive way to prepare almost every conceivable variation on the theme of these molecules. We aim to demonstrate their enormous potential in diverse and important areas, including molecular electronics and bioactive natural product synthesis. We will make important structures that others have tried and failed to prepare and use them to develop a better understanding of fundamental aspects of chemical structure and reactivity. The powerful, enabling technology developed throughout this project is significant since it is widely applicable within the field of chemical synthesis.
