Description
Strongly correlated quantum systems, such as interacting particles in a lattice potential, pose many fascinating open questions. These include an explanation for the mechanism behind high temperature superconductivity and thermalisation occurs on a quantum scale. Accurate theoretical models of these systems are challenging to study, due to the strong quantum correlations that exist between particles, while impurities, defects and limited access to observables in solid state materials make traditional experimental studies difficult.
