    Description

This proposal seeks support for a femtosecond laser system for use in the development of advanced nonlinear optical materials and devices. A major focus will be the characterization and refinement of materials and devices for telecommunications applications. The new equipment will provide a widely turnable source of ultra-short pulses (=10-13s) within the wavelength range between 300 nm and 3 microns and replace an existing fixed wavelength source which is no longer capable of supporting the research.
