    Project Details

    Description

We propose an Australian and international multicentre semi-factorial RCT to compare the clinical efficacy of UDCA and rifampicin both using visual itchscores and also measuring serum autotaxin and urine BA metabolites, and to test whether elective early delivery in severe ICP is beneficial. We will also sequence the whole exome of women enrolling in the trial for BA transporter mutations/variants to examine if particular genotypes predict betteroutcome for the different agents. We plan to follow-up the offspring of affected mothers from SA in the trial, using data linkage with the South Australian Early Childhood Data Project toassess longer-term health and developmental outcomes in the early school years, and to be able to distinguish the impact of the other comorbidities if present.
