A Red- sensitive E2V detector for the Veloce-Rosso instrument

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

RSAA has built a nearly identical detector package to the one needed for Veloce-Rosso as part of the WiFeS red camera, so could bid for additional work in building the detector package for the Veloce-Rosso instrument. The cost of this (labour and parts) is slightly larger than the Spectral Instruments package, due to a small amount of non-recurrent engineering needed to modernise RSAA’s detector electronics. With MEC funding being used to purchase a significant component of the detector package, then this situation changes – ANU could become the subcontractor for the detector package, the project would have its funding shortfall remedied, and with RSAA would be in an much better position to lead future major optical astronomical instrumentation proposals and contracts.
