A silicon-compatible light source on a silicon-on-insulator platform

This project aims to realize a silicon-compatible light source on a silicon-on-insulator platform and integrate monolithically with other silicon optical elements. The proposal introduces a new approach for achieving this goal that exploits a combination of facilities and expertise available in Australia and through international collaboration. The techniques and technology to be developed will lead to the first fully functional optical interconnect compatible with silicon processing technology as well as low-cost devices for telecommunication and sensing devices.
