Abattoir wastewater treatment: a method for effective water purification and conversion of organic matter into value-added products AND Integrated electric discharges and aquaculture for abattoir wastewater treatment

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

These projects will use solar energy-driven electric discharges in air for one-pot fast abattoir wastewater treatment to yield clean water, and, when applied to concentrated wastewater, to produce value-added carbon-based materials AND use solar energy-driven electric discharges in air for one-step fast abattoir wastewater pre-treatment that can break down suspended solids that can block sunlight penetration and hinder algal photosynthesis; remove potentially harmful pollutants and pharmaceuticals; reduce the level of ammonia; remove any pathogenic bacteria, effectively preventing contamination of ponds and fish; and introduce large amounts of dissolved oxygen into water to facilitate microbial growth and sustain greater densities of fish or shrimp per unit volume.
